Alcohol Dependency

Alcohol Dependency

People sometimes drink alcohol to socialize, sometimes to forget their troubles for a few hours. They are unaware of increasing the frequency of drinking alcohol. Finally, they can not continue their daily life without drinking alcohol.

What about alcohol?

Alcohol is absorbed from the stomach and mixed into the bloodstream and transported to the brain. Initially, after a person consumed the alcohol, the brain secretes the dopamine substance that gives life pleasure to him. Then the dopamine begins to decrease and endorphin, serotonin, GABA to increase. The person becomes numb, sheds and eventually become drunk. This process depends on the amount of aldehyde dehydrogenase enzyme that breaks down the alcohol. For example, people living in northern countries are more resistant to alcohol because they have a higher amount of enzyme. People living in the fareast are not resistant to alcohol because the amount of enzyme is low.

How is alcohol dependence treated?

Common treatment method;

Dependents are hospitalized first. Alcohol is banned and treatment of deprivation begins. However, alcohol deprivation and coma is fatal. Then, according to the complaints of the patient, medication is given.

Ideal alcohol addiction treatment;

* Drinking alcohol should not be prohibited, so one does not enter the deprivation syndrome.

* As the treatment progresses, the person should reduce alcohol consumption by himself.

* The actual treatment starts after alcohol is released.

* Mechanisms and personality disorders that create addiction should be corrected after alcohol is quited.
